If you don’t know where to find a folder named Desktop Pictures, go into the Caches folder and create one. Lockscreen.png is the name of the file in this folder. After typing in the pathname, click the Go button. When you log in, you’ll see a screen where you can enter your password. Now, restart your Mac and you should see the new image you selected as the background on the login screen! For example, if the image is located on your Desktop, you would type: defaults write /Library/Preferences/ DesktopPicture -string “/Users/YourUserName/Desktop/image.jpg” Once you’ve entered the command, hit Enter. In the Terminal window, type the following command: defaults write /Library/Preferences/ DesktopPicture -string “/path/to/image.jpg” Replace “/path/to/image.jpg” with the actual path to the image you want to use.
Next, open the Terminal application (located in /Applications/Utilities/). png format, and that it’s at least 1920×1200 pixels. Here’s how: First, find an image that you want to use as your new background. If you’re bored of looking at the same login screen background every time you start up your Mac, you can change it to something more interesting.
